The interaction of the muscle, bones and connective tissues of the musculoskeletal system provide our body with movement, stability, shape and support. Soft Tissue Massage, also known as sports massage, addresses minor and chronic issues within the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. Applying advanced soft tissue techniques and traditional massage to manipulate the soft tissues with the aim of reducing or eliminating the issues that are causing pain and discomfort in our body.
The fascial system is a three dimensional, connective tissue matrix; one unit that touches (therefore communicates with) all our other systems and is believed to be a transport medium for cells, nutrients and wastes. Fascia is found superficially under the skin and continues to permeate the body, surrounding and weaving its way around and through muscles and their fibers (myofascia;myo = muscle), organs, the brain, spinal chord, and nerve fibres. The techniques of myofascial release are designed to alleviate tension, restrictions and adhesions specifically in the fascia. The health of fascia influences and assists in the health of our whole body system.
Soft Tissue Massage & Myofascial Release can help with many issues including lower back pain and dysfunction, shoulder dysfunction, shoulder and neck tension, pelvic imbalances, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, pain resulting from disc impingement, arm tingling, abdominal discomfort, stress, headaches and migraines.
